Thank, Look, Isolate

Stay calm, at all times, to demonstrate there is nothing for your dog to be scared of.

  1. When he first starts to bark, call him to you and thank / reward him (for alerting you to potential danger) when he comes to you.
  2. If he fails to come when asked, walk over to where he is (do not look at him or acknowledge him in any way) and have a look at what he is barking at. Do this calmly and without fuss. Then turn and calmly walk away, calling him to follow, when he comes praise him.
  3. If, again, he fails to come, Isolate him.
