Gesture Leaving

  1. Calmly leave the room or house, closing the door behind you so the dog can’t follow.
  2. Stay out for a few seconds, then return to the room.
  3. When you return ignore the dog completely and avoid any eye contact.
  4. Once your dog is calm and relaxed, call her to you. When she comes praise and reward her.
  5. If she fails to come, ignore her for a few minutes and try again.
  6. Repeat this process as many times as you can, gradually extending the period you spend out of the room / house.
